WALTER VISZOLAY
Born near Budapest, Hungary, Walter Viszolay came to America, at the age of seven. His family of six escaped during the Hungarian Revolution, and eventually settled in Southern California. To Walter it was a dream come true, to be in America and to be close to the sea. His natural talent for art developed quickly in his new surroundings and he received recognition and encouragement to continue with his unique and individual expression at an early age.
Upon graduating from school he moved to Hawaii, where his artistic style was
further influenced by the many island panoramas of lush vegetation, brilliant
skies and sun swept beaches. During this time he became known for his
Island Scenes series of original oils, acrylics and pastels.
Returning to California, Walter settled in Laguna Beach. His love of the ocean and its environment is evident in every aspect of his life. His favorite sports include surfing, diving, SUP, sailing and photography. The environment is evident in every aspect of his life. He savors the adventure and beauty where land and sea meet.
His gallery/studio, located in Laguna Village, adjacent to the Cliff Restaurant, is open daily. One of his specialties is painting commissions piece from any photo or location.
Walter currently resides in Laguna Beach with his wife Kelly, son Eli and daughter Marissa. His son Anthony is currently living and working in Haleiwa, Hawaii.
The gallery/studio is located at the Laguna Village, 577 South Coast Highway,
Laguna Beach, CA. Walter’s art work can also be seen at the world famous
Sawdust Festival during July and August. Visitors are invited to view his original
